About Card Optimizer

A free tool that tells you which of the credit cards in your wallet earns the most on a purchase, at a store or in a category.

How it works

Pick the cards you carry, then a store or kind of purchase and an amount. Each card is scored by what it would earn on that purchase, with points converted to dollars at typical values, and the best one comes first. It counts bonus categories you picked, store bonuses and how much of a capped bonus you’ve already used. The best-card pages do the same for every card we track.

Where the rates come from

Earn rates come from issuers’ published terms and well-known card review sites, and each card is dated by when it was last checked. Rotating bonuses are updated when issuers announce them. Rates and offers change, so verify them with the issuer before you apply for a card or rely on a rate.

What it isn’t

It isn’t financial advice, and a ranking isn’t a recommendation to apply for a card. It never asks for card numbers or bank logins, shows no ads, and doesn’t sell your data. No card issuer pays to be listed or placed, and Card Optimizer isn’t affiliated with any of them. See the terms and privacy policy.

Who runs it

Card Optimizer is a free side project built by a software engineer. You don’t need an account to use it. Found a wrong rate or a missing store? Get in touch.
